DERMATOLOGY CENTER LAUNCHES INTEGRATIVE TRIPLE THREAT APPROACH AND LEVERAGES TECHNOLOGY TO DISRUPT BRICK AND MORTAR HEALTHCARE
JULY 23, 2018 MINNEAPOLIS, MN
Twin Cities Dermatology Center, PA, opened its doors this spring in the thriving 36th Street community at the intersection of Minneapolis and St Louis Park. The Center offers medical, surgical, cosmetic, and diagnostic services for all ages under one single specialty clinic roof. What makes the Center unique are its extension of dermatological services via telemedicine and its fully electronic operational platform, disrupting the traditional delivery of healthcare through brick and mortar. Online technology is leveraged to the max and facilitates virtual visits while eliminating all paper forms or the need for a receptionist to schedule your appointment. The comprehensive integration of services (clinical dermatology, teledermatology, and dermatopathology) coupled with the latest technology is patient-centered and increases access, promotes continuity, and centralizes care.
The use of automated online technology in healthcare has become popular among patients equipped with smart phones and other mobile devices. Online appointment booking offers convenience while access to electronic health records keeps patients informed. Teledermatology, the remote delivery of dermatology care via technology, leads the telemedicine industry in consumer demand and growth. Teledermatology increases access to care and has the potential to improve outcomes and reduce healthcare costs. The Center provides flexibility in care delivery with services offered both in the clinic setting and via telemedicine. The clinic setting directly supports teledermatology and ensures a reliable location for patient follow-up. In addition to clinical dermatology and teledermatology, providing dermatopathology (microscopic diagnostic services) through the Center further promotes care centralization for accuracy and efficient disease management.
The Center was founded by board-certified dermatologist Margareth Pierre-Louis, MD, MBA, FAAD, and aspires to become the premier dermatology clinic in the Twin Cities. Dr. Pierre-Louis was born in Haiti and grew up in Naples, Florida. She attended Duke University for both undergraduate in biology and graduate school in business administration. She earned her MD at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Medicine. Dr. Pierre-Louis moved to Minneapolis in 2010 to complete her internship at Hennepin County Medical Center followed by dermatology residency at the University of Minnesota. After three years of practice in the Twin Cities, she went on to complete a dermatopathology fellowship at Washington University in St Louis School of Medicine. Her training reflects a deep understanding of dermatological disorders with extensive research completed in the area of hair diseases. Dr. Pierre-Louis is passionate about her specialty and aims to put evidence-based, expert dermatology within everyone’s reach. Licensed in fifteen states, she has seen thousands of patients in the clinic setting and has cared for over a thousand patients through telemedicine. Twin Cities Dermatology Center is accepting new patients and plans to partner with other providers in the metropolitan area to deliver exceptional dermatology care.
